The National League of Cities (NLC) will host the second Municipal Leadership for Juvenile Justice Reform Leadership Academy from Sept. 23 to 25 in Minneapolis. With support from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, NLC’s Institute for Youth, Education and Families created the academy to share information and expertise based on MacArthur’s Models for Change.
Local government officials and staff as well as community partners from around the country have been invited to apply for a chance to learn “the skills and knowledge they need to build on existing city-led efforts to take up leadership roles in juvenile justice reform.” Training will focus on diversion and re-entry as well as the reduction of disproportionate minority contact. Nationally recognized experts on juvenile justice will lead the training, which will include peer learning and the creation of plans for specific localities.
The deadline for application is July 15.
