Man Jailed for 3 Years in Riker’s, Never Tried, Commits Suicide at Home

Kalief Browder told the New Yorker’s Jennifer Gonnerman about his ordeal so that other people might be spared the same fate: about 800 days in solitary, more than 1,000 days in Riker’s, only to be freed without ever being tried on the original charge of robbery.

Gonnerman writes about his life outside jail, his family and his Saturday suicide.
