The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work within an agency culture focused on “Putting Youth First”. Supported by a community committed to helping families alongside juvenile justice stakeholders that adhere to a philosophy of diverting youth away from the deep end of the juvenile system whenever possible, department personnel use an array of programs that employ research supported strategies. With thirteen locations throughout Dallas County the department provides an abundance of services; including, treatment and diversion courts, comprehensive behavior health programs, alternative education programs, victim restoration programs, evening and day reporting sites and field probation offices.
The Director of Juvenile Services directs the department services, programs and facilities in order to maintain compliance with Title 3 of the Texas Family Code and Standards and other related state/federal statutes. The Director implements the directives and policies of the Juvenile Board relating to the delivery of these services and programs. This position promotes inter-agency and community collaboration to further the goals of the department. The Director of Juvenile Services should be an accomplished individual recognized for successful programs in their specific field.
