JJIE is funded by advertisers, foundation grants and individual donations.  Some grants do support specific areas of coverage, such as indigent defense or racial inequity in juvenile sentencing. However, these grants are awarded with the understanding that the funding does not affect which programs we cover or what we report about them.

All editorial decisions are independently made by JJIE staff. Donors and advertisers do not assign, review or edit content.
