Ellen Miller, the editorial director for the Juvenile Justice Information Exchange (JJIE.org), has left to take a job managing a 100-person, TV newsroom in Cleveland, Ohio.
She will be replaced on an interim basis by John Fleming, editor at large for The Anniston (Ala) Star. An advertisement will be placed soon for a full-time replacement for Miller. Watch this site for "Communication Professional III."
We are extremely proud of Miller's accomplishments with the JJIE.org. It came fully online in September, 2010 under her direction. We were not sure how big the audience might be for juvenile justice issues, but we found out this month, when we topped 10,000 unique visitors a month, with last week averaging just under 1,000 page views a day. And we continue to grow.
We are confident that Fleming, working with our full-time reporter Chandra Thomas and interns Ryan Schill and Amie Flanagan, will continue our tradition of excellence in producing high quality, ethically sound journalism.
Fleming has a distinguished career in journalism, including being a foreign correspondent in Africa for Reuters and editorial page editor at The Anniston Star. He also is one of the founders of the Civil Rights Cold Case Project, which reports on unsolved and underreported murders from the Civil Rights era. You can see its impact here.
