A fight occurred at a Youth Detention Center in Rome, Ga., last week that resulted in one teenaged girl being sent to a local hospital, according to the Rome News-Tribune. The paper quotes Haley Bonds, the mother of the girl, as saying her daughter was badly beaten by another girl. The state’s Department of Juvenile Justice provided few details about the incident. Emily Gest, spokesperson for the DJJ, told the paper, “We have an active criminal investigation into an altercation between two young women. As a result of the altercation, one youth was treated and released from a local medical facility.”
Bonds told the paper authorities told her that her daughter is being moved to another facility.
